Gym Pilates

✦  Generic mat sequences, usually the same every class.

✦  Designed for a fit, able-bodied participant.

✦  Instructor to student ratio - often 1:20 or more.

✦  No postural assessment. No progression tracking.

✦  Treats Pilates as exercise. Not as body engineering.

The difference between exercise and body engineering is precision, intention, and someone who knows your spine better than your GP does.

This is not the Pilates you've seen at the gym.

✦  Reformer and apparatus work - spring resistance that can't be faked.

✦  Designed around your specific body - posture, history, goals.

✦  Small group and 1:1 sessions - you are known here.

✦  Static and dynamic postural assessment before you begin.

✦  Informed by stress physiology - because tension holds posture hostage.

Four Disciplines. One Precision Studio.

Each is built on the same foundation intelligent movement, injury awareness, and your specific needs.

Reformer Pilates

Spring-resistance apparatus training
Full studio Reformer work - the most effective form of Pilates for posture correction, core stability, and rehabilitation. Adjustable, scalable, and completely different from mat work.

Clinical Pilates

Injury-informed movement rehab
Evidence-based movement work for injury recovery, spinal health, and chronic pain guided by an understanding of stress physiology. The warmest clinical experience you'll find.

Pilates for Back Pain

Root-cause spinal relief
Targeted core and spinal stability work that addresses why your back hurts - not just where. Especially effective for the desk-bound, the long-haul commuter, and the chronically tense.

Posture Correction

Tech neck • Rounded shoulders • Desk posture
A structured programme to reverse the postural damage of screen-heavy work life. Assessed, tracked, and corrected through progressive Reformer and mat work.

Pilates for Beginners

No experience • No pressure • Real foundations
An entirely accessible entry point - no intimidating jargon, no unreachable standards, no 'level 2 only' gatekeeping. Just a clear, safe introduction to what your body is capable of.

What Pilates at Ekoham Actually Delivers

Not aspirational marketing — observable, trackable changes that your body will tell you about.

Postural Correction

Systematic reshaping of how you stand, sit, and move - correcting the rounded shoulders, forward head, and anterior tilt that desk life creates.

Back Pain Relief

Building the deep spinal stability that's the actual solution to most chronic back pain - not stretching, not surgery, but support from the inside.

Core Stability

Real core strength - not six-pack aesthetics but deep transverse and multifidus engagement that protects your spine in everything you do outside the studio.

Injury Recovery

Controlled, guided movement that rebuilds tissue integrity, restores range of motion, and re-establishes motor patterns disrupted by injury.

Functional Strength

Strength that transfers to life - carrying groceries, lifting children, sitting at a desk for eight hours, walking upstairs without aching.

Body Awareness

The less-talked-about benefit. Pilates builds interoception - the ability to know what your body is doing, which changes how you move through everything.

Built for Real Bodies. Real Lives.

The IT Professional

Nine hours at a desk. Tech neck. Rounded shoulders. Lower back that complains by Wednesday.

Posture Correction + Reformer - reverse the desk body, systematically.

The Active Senior

Wants to stay mobile, strong, and independent. Wary of gyms. Needs low-impact, high-return movement.

Reformer Foundations - joint-friendly, dignity-preserving, genuinely effective.

The Post-Injury Rebuilder

Coming back from a disc problem, surgery, or long-term injury. Nervous about movement. Needs expert hands.

Clinical Pilates - safe, assessed, injury-aware progression.

The Curious Beginner

Has heard about Pilates forever. Tried a mat class once and felt confused. Wants to do it properly.

Beginners Programme - clear, safe, zero assumptions about what you already know.

Why Pilates Here Is Different: The Integration Explained

The Stress-Posture Connection - Ekoham's Unique Angle

Here is something most Pilates studios won't tell you: you can do every exercise in the manual and still carry your shoulders around your ears if nobody addresses why they're up there.

Chronic muscular tension isn't just a structural problem. It's a physiological response to sustained psychological stress. When the nervous system stays in sympathetic activation - fight or flight - the body contracts. The jaw clenches. The diaphragm tightens. The hip flexors brace. Over months and years, those contractions become the body's default posture.

Standard Pilates strengthens around this tension. Our approach informed by Sheetal's psychology background works to release it first, then rebuild. That's a fundamentally different process, and it produces fundamentally different results.

"Most postural problems I see are 50% structural and 50% nervous system. You can correct someone's alignment a hundred times. Until their body feels safe enough to stop bracing, the shoulders will find their way back up."

~ Sheetal Tiwari, Founder

The Postural Assessment - Where Every Programme Begins

Before any Pilates session at Ekoham, new clients undergo a static and dynamic postural assessment. This isn’t a formality – it’s the foundation of everything that follows.

Static Assessment:
Dynamic Assessment:

From this, Sheetal builds a personalised programme – specific exercises, specific apparatus settings, specific progressions – that is yours alone. It’s reviewed every four to six weeks as your body changes.

What a Pilates Session at Ekoham Looks Like

No two Ekoham yoga sessions are identical  because no two people’s needs are. But here’s the general shape of what to expect:

Intake & Warm-Up (5–8 min) – A brief verbal check-in. Where are you holding tension today? Any new sensations since the last session? Breath awareness and gentle mobilisation.

Apparatus Setup (3–5 min) – Your Reformer settings are adjusted for your body and today’s focus. Springs, straps, foot bar – all calibrated.

Core Programme (40–45 min) -The structured work. Controlled, precise, and progressive. Always with verbal and visual guidance. Modifications available at every level.

Closing Integration (5 min) – Gentle stretching and breath work. Bringing the body back to a neutral, relaxed baseline. Noting what changed in this session.

Post-Session Notes – For 1:1 clients, Sheetal sends brief WhatsApp notes after each session – what was worked on, what to notice, and what’s next.

How Pilates and Therapy Work Together

Ekoham is the only studio in Baner offering both clinical Pilates and psychological counseling under one roof, guided by the same practitioner. For some clients, this integration is the difference between progress and plateau.

Consider the client with chronic lower back pain who has done physiotherapy, tried a gym, and is still in pain. In many cases, the physical treatment is sound - but the nervous system hasn't been addressed. The pain is partially structural and partially the body's learned threat response. Adding psychological tools - stress regulation, body awareness, breath - alongside Pilates is how Ekoham achieves the results others don't.

  • If you are working with a physiotherapist or medical professional, we welcome collaboration.
  • Sheetal can work alongside your existing treatment - not in competition with it.
  • Please bring any relevant medical history or reports to your assessment appointment.

From the People Who've Practised Here

"I'd been to two physios and a chiropractor for my lower back. They helped, but the pain kept returning. Three months of Reformer work with Sheetal and it's been gone for six months. She explained the stress connection to me and it finally all made sense."

— Vikram T., 42 Senior Developer, Hinjewadi

"I was genuinely scared to do Pilates after my disc herniation. Sheetal's assessment was so thorough, and she moved so carefully with me. Six sessions in, I was doing things I hadn't done in two years. It's the most confident I've felt in my body since my thirties."

— Kavya R., 48 Finance Director, Baner

"I came for the posture — I was basically folded in half from working at a laptop for six years. I stayed because the whole experience is completely different from any studio I've been to. You feel genuinely cared for here."

— Rahul M., 35 UX Lead, Balewadi

Common Questions

Completely. Flexibility is a result of yoga practice - not a requirement for starting it. Every session at Ekoham is adapted to where your body actually is. We've never turned anyone away for being 'too stiff'. That's exactly why you'd come.

A regular yoga class follows a set sequence. Therapeutic Yoga is designed around a specific condition - back pain, anxiety, burnout, post-surgery recovery. At Ekoham, even our group classes carry a therapeutic lens. But for a fully personalised approach, 1:1 therapeutic sessions are recommended.

Yes - and we'd encourage it. That integration is the core of what makes Ekoham different. You can start with one service and add others as you become more comfortable. Or speak to Sheetal during your intake to co-design a plan from day one.

We see meaningful shifts with two sessions per week over 4-6 weeks. One session is better than none. Consistency matters more than frequency. We'll work with your schedule, not against it.

Yes. Therapeutic Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and Yoga Nidra are all used to address specific conditions. Tell us what's going on during your intake and we'll design a plan that actually speaks to it.
